My 3-year-old figured out the snap hardware on her own within a day, and now she builds a fox, takes it apart, and rebuilds it as something else. The chunky beech blocks are easy for small hands to grip, and they've survived being dropped on tile more than once.

The matte finish on these beech blocks feels really nice in the hand, no slick plastic vibe at all. My four-year-old snaps the pieces together to make a giraffe and actually keeps it built while carrying it around. The metal snaps click solidly, which seems to be why the animals hold up to her rough

My three-year-old figured out the snap hardware in about two minutes and has been connecting elephants and giraffes nonstop. The chunky blocks feel sturdy in his hands and the matte natural shades make them look nice on the shelf, not like plastic junk. We've already used them four days in a row.
