The caterpillar needles are chunky enough for little hands to grip without getting frustrated, and the beaded stoppers actually keep the lace from slipping out mid-thread. My 4-year-old laced all eight fruits in one sitting, then started naming the colors instead of just the fruit.

My 3-year-old figured out the caterpillar needle on her own within minutes, and the beaded stoppers actually keep the lace from slipping out mid-stitch. The fruits are chunky enough for little hands, and she's been quiet for almost an hour lacing the banana.

The two long laces with those wooden beaded stoppers make it easy for my toddler to keep the fruit pieces in place while she figures out the threading. She's gone back to it every day since it arrived, and I love that there are eight different fruits to keep her interested.
